Rutland Poppy Project 2018

Over 50 people, young and old, attended the poppy making session in Ridlington Village Hall on Sunday 15th April. During the two hours, approximately 150 poppies were moulded into different shapes and sizes, which will add to the uniqueness and individuality of the display. £90.00 was raised towards this event. There was a great buzz about the place and a great sense of coming together, just as those who did for us 100 years ago.

Thank you to everyone involved.

The Project aims to commemorate the centenary of the end of The Great War by creating a large scale sculpture formed of up to 10,000 hand crafted poppies. These will be displayed in the grounds of Oakham Castle for a month in October-November this year. So save the date and go and see the finished product this autumn.

If you were unable to attend this session, there are still others around the county to take part in, or you can make a donation. Please contact Chris 01572 822172 or Shelagh on 01572 822388.
