As we are all aware, 2020 marks the 75th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day (generally known as VE Day) which was the public holiday celebrated on 8 May 1945 to mark the formal acceptance by the Allies of World War II of Nazi Germany’s unconditional surrender of its armed forces.
This year the May Bank Holiday has been moved from Monday 4 May to Friday 8 May, to enable people to pay tribute to those who served in one of the most significant events in our country’s history. Commemorative events will take place over the 3-day weekend across the country.
Ridlington Village’s VE Day celebrations will be celebrated on Sunday, May 10th 2020.
Discussions and planning are underway, so watch this space for Ridlington’s Village celebration. Details will be circulated shortly outlining the arrangements and events for our VE Day celebrations.
The current plan is: A Church Service at 10:30 am; street party style “bring and share lunch” at the Village Hall; VE Day Proms; afternoon activities for the whole family at the Village Hall and Playing Fields.
We hope these events will not be affected by the COVID19 outbreak!
