BOOKS! BOOKS! BOOKS!

We need to sell off some of the books because we are running out of space – now is your chance to grab a bargain. Donations please to Debra Thatcher.

Recommendations for this month:

“The Politics of Washing, Real Life in Venice” by Polly Cole’s – ordinary life in an extraordinary city besieged by tourists.  Beautifully written.

“The Appeal” by Janice Hallett – Sunday Times Crime Book of the Month.  This book has had glowing reviews, but didn’t really work for me.  Give it a go and let me know what you think.

“Amazing Times” articles from The Times newspaper 1945 to 1981 – a good spread, decent illustrations and amusing stories – one for the smallest room?

“Blott on the Landscape” by Tom Sharpe – I echo my comments on Porterhouse Blue from last month.
