We are delighted to report that we have achieved the silver award from the charity A Rocha, joining a thousand other churches across the UK. Well done and sincere thanks to everyone who has contributed in any way to our success.

New surveys are being introduced this autumn and we will review the one for the gold award and decide whether we are up for the challenge.  Ideas, expressions of interest and pledges of enthusiasm to Debra Thatcher.

Big thanks for to all who made cakes and supported the Village Hall Coffee morning on Friday, September 27th. Just over £130 was raised.

A Social Night will take place on Friday 13th December, so keep this date in your diary – all welcome!

Three more for you this month.

This first “Old Evils” written by a well-known author – Alex Walters as part of her DI Annie Delamere series.  Two very different investigations – a person leaves a snow bound pub and is soon found dead and a young boy disappears.  Are the investigations linked?  A good crime thriller.

The second from the not so well-known author  Tom Cox who crowdfunded this novel “Villager”, set on Dartmoor and moving from one narrator to another over the past, present and future.  Took a couple of chapters to get into but enjoyed it.

Thirdly, to mark the change in seasons, Antony Worrall Thomson’s “Essential Low Fat Cookbook” – some good soup recipes and who’s mouth doesn’t water at the prospect of pork with celeriac and apple mash?

Let’s Play Dough and Q&A with Richard Baines, to take place on Saturday 28th September 7.00pm in Ridlington Village Hall.

£15 includes Drinks, light buffet and raffle ticket. All proceeds are in aid of Ridlington Playing Field and Church.

More details to follow… or contact Karen Baines on 07813 377070 or by email on baines1864@hotmail.com

Dear All,

Please see the attached flyer.

It has been some time since we had a pop-up shop, but the Venison Season is back, so we will have some fresh to sell on Saturday 14th between 11am and 2pm.  We will also have fresh new season lamb, Freshly made Lamb, Venison and Beef Burgers, there will also be some frozen pork and apple burgers made by me here in the Castle Chase Kitchen.

We will also have a selection of Frozen Beef.

If you would like to order a specific cut of lamb or venison, please let me know by Monday evening, and I will ask the butcher to prepare it for you.

As always, any queries or if you can’t make the shop but would like to place an order to collect at another time please do get in touch with me.

Going forward we are planning to open the shop on the first Saturday of each month between 11am and 2pm, we will see if this is popular, we are very interested in your feedback on this idea, please do let us know your thoughts.

I am always pleased to hear from you between shops if you would like to purchase something, just give me a call or text or even email, and I can confirm availability and arrange a time to open for you to collect or browse.

Kind Regards,
Sue Scott

A big thanks to all who provided cakes, attended or made a donation for the Coffee Morning held on July 26th. A total of £122 was raised for hall funds.

Save the dates…

The next Coffee Morning will be held on: Friday, 27th September and a Social Night will take place on Friday 13th December.

All welcome!

Rutland and Stamford Sound will be joining the Rural Coffee Connect Van in Ridlington on Wednesday 18 September. They often do these pop-up radio events together.  If you are not familiar with Rutland and Stamford Sound, they are a not-for-profit community radio station, led my Station Manager Rob Persani.

They will be erecting a gazebo outside the Village Hall which will be manned by a few volunteers in attendance and Rob Persani will be there, presenting some of his morning show live from Ridlington. They will be there from 10:00 – 12:30.

On the day, Rob Persani will be happy to chat to anyone who has news to share. If anyone in Ridlington would like to talk about any upcoming events or activities, this will be an ideal opportunity to come along.
