VILLAGE HALL – BEING CHARGED FOR BIN COLLECTION

Ridlington-village-hall- Rutland-meetings

All Village Halls in Rutland have heard that from September 1st they will be charged to have both the black & grey bins emptied. This amounts too £364 pa ( £14 pw ) for the black bin. Grey bin is £313 pa (£12 pw). This collection would presumably be done at the same time our house bins are collected as happens at present.

A week ago the question was asked if this was to be a yearly charge or per bin collection.  The case of most small village halls like ours the bins only get put out after an event such as teas or coffee mornings which in our case is single figures each year. As yet no reply from Catmose,  or even being told of these charges directly. I only found out from Empingham VH Committee a couple of weeks ago.

A campaign is being organised by Empingham VH Committee supported by other Village Hall Committees to try and get the County Council to drop these charges. This includes a petition which I have for people to sign. If you wish to sign it, let me know and I will bring it round to you.

To sum up what this will mean for the Village Hall’s finances our Hall hire income for last year was £770 which is about the same the County Council is saying we should pay to get the VH bins emptied each year.

Kind regards,
Dave Roome – Chairman
