Hi All,

We have fresh lamb this time.  It is not too late to order a specific cut or size of joint, but please let me know by 12 noon on Thursday so I can ask our artisan butcher to prepare it for you. There will be Sourdough although a limited amount and there may be other items and baking but will let you know.

As always, any questions or requests please do let me know.

With best wishes from Castle Chase
Kind Regards
Sue Scott

Another mixed selection this month so hopefully all tastes covered.

First, who doesn’t love talking about the weather?  The Royal Meteorological Society’s Weather A-Z is a must read packed with scientific and geographical information, including some folklore that surrounds certain weather events and how human culture has been affected.  Amazing photographs are an added bonus.

For historians, Catherine Curzon’s “Sophia Mother of Kings, the Finest Queen Britain Never had”, a biography of the Electress of Hanover, the granddaughter of James 1, and mother of a dynasty who became heiress presumptive under the 1701 Act of Settlement.

Also, on an historical theme “Mrs Beeton’s Family Cookery” dating from the early 1930’s – packed with information regarding running a household as well as recipes and a glorious section on folding napkins!

Finally, Christopher Fowler’s “Bryant and May On the Loose” – one of the adventures of two golden age detectives in modern day London forming the backbone of the fictional Peculiar Crimes Unit – an enjoyable read for lovers of detective fiction.

Rutland County Council will be promoting their  “Waste Less, Recycle More” campaign to ready the public for the introduction of the new dedicated food waste collections from March 2026. This is a legal requirement that they will have to follow.
